Every licensed cosmetology professional must complete a continuing education course in alternating years. This is true whether you are a cosmetologist, nail technician, facial specialist, full specialist, hair braider, hair wrapper, or body wrapper. Failure to complete your continuing education prior to the end of your renewal cycle may result in your license becoming inactive such that you are not permitted to work.

If you are a cosmetologist, nail technician, facial specialist, or full specialist: Take either the 10-hour Continuing Education Course here or the 16-hour Continuing Education Course here. Either class will satisfy your continuing education requirements.

If you are seeking cosmetology licensure for the first time:
Take the 4-hour HIV/AIDS Course:Initial Licensure here.

If you are seeking a license by endorsement (out-of-state):
Take the 4-hour HIV/AIDS Course:Initial Licensure here.

Yes. You may take the 4-hour HIV/AIDS class for initial licensure here. This is the initial course for first time licensees or licensees from out-of-state seeking an endorsement license.

There’s no timer. Read and review the content at your own pace and convenience.

Relax. This is a “no fail” exam. The exam is open book. Feel free to review and double-check the course book as you take the exam. “No fail” means that you are free to take the exam as many times as you need to pass. The passing grade is 75%.

Your class completion is reported electronically to the state within 24 hours of your passing the exam. Usually your license is sent to you by the state within 30 days after completing the class.

After you pass the exam, the completion certificate is emailed to you in PDF format. You may also download the class completion certificate from your account page.

Either take our 10 hour continuing education class or our 16 hour continuing education class and pay your renewal fee. To renew your license, go to https://www.myfloridalicense.com/intercept.asp. For questions about renewing your license, you may also contact the Board of Cosmetology at 850-487-1395.

You may qualify for licensure in Florida without having to take an examination by holding an active cosmetology license in another state whose requirements for licensure are comparable or more stringent than Florida requirements (1,200 educational hours and passage of a written examination). However, you must complete the 4-hour HIV/AIDS course and submit the certificate of completion with your endorsement application. For more information about an endorsement license go here.

Cosmetologists licensed in another state or country who cannot obtain a Florida cosmology license by endorsement may be able to obtain a license by examination. However, you must complete the 4-hour Initial HIV/AIDS course and submit the certificate of completion with your application. For more information about obtaining a Florida cosmetology license by examination go here.

A license becomes “null and void” when a licensee fails to renew for two consecutive license cycles. You may qualify to reinstate your null and void license if it lapsed due to illness or economic hardship. However, you must complete the 4-hour Initial HIV/AIDS Course and submit the completion certificate with the application to reinstate your license. For more information about reinstating a null and void cosmetology license go here.

If the Board of Cosmetology refuses to accept our online class for credit, then we will refund your class cost promptly and cheerfully.
